We are looking for TideTurners who believe that stories change the world.
Communications Catalyst & Executive Associate for Faith & Ocean Action
Dear Tideturner,
You believe that stories change the world. You know that the right message, carried by trusted voices, can shift what people believe is possible.
You understand something that many in the environmental movement are only beginning to grasp: that faith communities don't just pray for the ocean. They protect it. They steward coastlines. They divest from destructive industries. They speak to the conscience of nations. And they think in generations, not quarters.
In June 2025, something remarkable happened. Over 300 faith organizations representing more than half a billion people came together to deliver Turning the Tide, the largest multi-faith declaration for ocean action ever created, directly to UN leadership. Faith leaders from Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Muslim, and Sikh traditions stood together at the UN Ocean Conference in Nice, demonstrating that protecting our sacred oceans is a shared moral imperative.
That campaign, Faiths for UNOC3, created something that didn't exist before: a truly inter-faith campaign of faith voices activated for ocean advocacy, comprehensive faith-policy resources in multiple languages, and an emerging model for faith-based nature advocacy.
Now we need someone to carry that momentum forward.
2026 brings a rare convergence: the High Seas Treaty has entered into force, nations are reporting on their 30x30 marine protection commitments, and major climate and biodiversity summits offer platforms for faith voices. This will be a pivotal year, and we need someone who can not only craft the narrative but also help coordinate communications on the ground at key ocean and biodiversity moments. The infrastructure is built. The network is activated. The policy windows are opening.
We're looking for someone who can translate the sacred into the strategic. Who can write a newsletter that moves a monk as equally as a policy briefing that shifts the perspective of a government minister. Who finds joy in helping others tell their stories and sees communications not as broadcasting but as weaving connections. Who can translate a strategy document into impactful moments where ocean policy and action are shaped.
If you're someone who gets excited about placing an op-ed in a major outlet AND crafting stories that resonate across faith traditions... if you can hold complexity without losing clarity... if you believe that how we communicate is itself an act of care...
We'd love to hear from you!
The tide is turning. Help us tell that story.
